New North Press

Graham Bignell presso lo studio New North Press. Graham ha fondato New North e la partnership ora include anche Richard Ardagh. Graham ha oltre 40 anni di esperienza nella stampa. Dal 1973 ha pubblicato stampe per artisti del calibro di Edward Bawden, Philip Sutton e Rupert Shepherd, e ha prodotto libri d’artista come No Talking for Seven Days di Hamish Fulton, Gargantua e Pantagruel di Ana Maria Pacheco e Lamu di Mandy Bonnell. Dal 2002 al 2020 è stato tutor esterno di tipografia per il Chelsea College of Art. Graham gestisce anche uno studio di conservazione della carta.

Richard lavora con la stampa tipografica dal 2006. Nel 2014 ha commissionato A23D, un prototipo di carattere tipografico stampato in 3D che ha vinto un premio per l’eccellenza tipografica dal Type Director Club di New York ed è stato esposto al V&A e al Centre Pompidou. Ha insegnato alla Central St Martins e ha collaborato al Type Archive dove ha studiato punzonatura di monotipi e creazione di matrici. Richard gestisce anche uno studio di progettazione grafica.

Graham Bignell at the New North Press studio. Graham founded New North and the partnership now includes Richard Ardagh. Graham has had over 40 years printing experience. Since 1973 he has editioned prints for the likes of Edward Bawden, Philip Sutton and Rupert Shepherd, and produced artists’ books such as Hamish Fulton’s No Talking for Seven Days, Ana Maria Pacheco’s Gargantua and Pantagruel and Mandy Bonnell’s Lamu. From 2002 to 2020 he was an external letterpress tutor for Chelsea College of Art. Graham also runs a paper conservation studio.

Richard has been working with letterpress since 2006. In 2014 he commissioned A23D, a prototype 3D-printed letterpress font which won an award for Typographic Excellence from Type Directors Club New York and has been exhibited at V&A and Pompidou Centre. He has taught at Central St Martins and assisted at the Type Archive where he studied Monotype punchcutting and matrix making. Richard also runs a graphic design practice.
