La Bellerby & Co. nasce dalla ricerca di Peter Bellerby di un mappamondo per l’ottantesimo compleanno di suo padre. Insoddisfatto da quanto disponibile sul mercato, decise di crearne uno da solo, impegnandosi in più di due anni di ricerche e lavoro. Oggi, a distanza di più di dieci anni, Peter gestisce l’azienda insieme ad un team di artigiani altamente qualificati e crea mappamondi fatti a mano venduti in tutto il “mondo”. Lo studio Bellerby & Co. è un’oasi di silenzio, bellezza ed eccellenza.

Bellerby & Co
Bellerby & Co. has its roots in Peter Bellerby’s search for a globe suitable for his father’s 80th birthday. Unhappy with everything found on the market he set out to make one himself. Before long, the 3 month project had morphed into 2 years, requiring lots of research and work. Today, Peter runs the company along with a team of highly trained globemakers. Together they create high quality, handmade globes sold all over the “globe”. Bellerby & Co. studio is an oasis of silence, beauty and excellence.

Rainbow Glass Studios
Nei Rainbow Glass Studios, Richard Paton progetta e realizza vetri decorativi per varie applicazioni. Le strutture dello studio gli consentono varie lavorazioni: fusione, pittura, smalto, incisione con acido, sabbiatura, utilizzando sia metodi tradizionali sia moderni. Richard è un abilissimo restauratore di vetrate antiche per le quali utilizza tecniche originali e tecniche di conservazione. Richard ama lavorare a progetti originali che richiedono una combinazione nuove tecniche vetrarie con metodi antichi, creando un impatto visivo unico.

Rainbow Glass Studios
At Rainbow Glass Studios, Richard Paton designs and makes decorative glass for various applications. The studio’s facilities enable him to fuse glass, paint, stain & enamel, acid etch, sandblast, engrave, brilliant cut and lead-work using traditional methods. Richard also restores damaged church stained glass, using conservation techniques. Richard welcomes unusual projects which require a design solution in glass, he frequently combines new glass techniques with old methods making a unique and fresh visual impact.

Ken Haines
Ken Haines si occupa di teatro di figura da oltre quarant’anni. Ha lavorato per i Muppets di Jim Henson, per il National Theatre e per Mountain Giants e Dragon. Il suo spettacolo Moving Tales è riconosciuto come una delle rappresentazioni di teatro d’animazione più originali. Ken ha aperto il London Mime Festival e ha rappresentato il Regno Unito in diversi festival prestigiosi in Europa ed è stato acclamato per la sua grande profondità e l’eccellente capacità tecnica. Ken ha un piccolo studio a casa sua e guardarlo interagire con Mister Potter, il protagonista di Moving Tales, regala momenti di pura magia.

Ken Haines
Ken Haines has been involved in puppetry for over forty years. He has worked in film for Jim Henson’s Muppets, for the National Theatre, Mountain Giants, and Dragon. Ken’s show Moving Tales is one of the most original pieces of animated theatre touring today. He opened the London Mime Festival and has represented the UK at several prestigious festivals in Europe and has been acclaimed for his great depth of feeling and excellent puppetry. Ken has a small studio in his house and watching him interacting with Mr Potter, the protagonist of Moving Tales, offers moments of pure magic.

Doorstep puppet theatre
Benedict Hastings e Maddie Sidi – uno attore e musicista, l’altra direttrice di scena, entrambi burattinai – hanno oltre quindici anni di esperienza nel settore teatrale. Per riuscire a portare la magia dello spettacolo dal vivo, nonostante le difficoltà della pandemia, hanno creato un teatro delle ombre portatile per potersi recare casa per casa, dando spettacoli all’aperto in modo sicuro. I loro spettacoli durante la pandemia hanno portato gioia e sorpresa ad un pubblico di tutte le età. Ben e Maddie lavorano instancabilmente nel loro studio per creare nuovi spettacoli.

Benedict Hastings and Maddie Sidi – one an actor and musician, the other a stage manager, both puppeteers – collectively have 15 years of experience in the theatre industry, and wanted to bring the magic of live performance to people despite the difficulties of the pandemic. They created a portable puppet theatre and travelled to people’s homes, giving outdoor performances in a safe way. Their shows during the pandemic brought joy and surprise to audiences of all ages. They work tirelessly in their studio to create new shows.

Founded 1982, Bridgewood and Neitzert is one of the UK’s leading violin dealers, restorers and makers supporting all string players from student to professional, running a largescale repair and restoration workshop operating to the most exacting and precise standards. Whether modern, classical or baroque their expertise and knowledge have served many musicians to achieve optimal sound, and satisfaction. Over the three floors of the studio, the music from the string instruments and the sound of craft making are blended by excellence.

Mattie the Clown
Mattie ha iniziato ad esibirsi come clown nel 1971 alla Syon House nella zona ovest di Londra. Ora, cinquant’anni dopo, è archivista e fiduciario della collezione del Museo dei Clown. La sua carriera ha avuto molti cambi di direzione: dal lavoro in Africa e Barbados al Clown Doctoring negli ospedali per oltre venti anni. A seguito di un’alluvione che ha colpito il museo di Dalston, ha ora tutti i suoi archivi con costumi, scarpe e circa 320 uova
dipinte rappresentanti i volti di clown, nel seminterrato della sua casa. Mattie sta oggi cercando di assicurare una nuova casa alla collezione del museo dei clown.

Mattie the Clown
Mattie started clowning in July 1971 with a troupe at Syon House garden centre in west London. Now 50 years on, he is the Archivist and trustee of the Clowns Museum
collection. His career has taken many colourful twists. from working in Africa and Barbados to Clown Doctoring in hospitals for 19 years. Helping people to laugh, always fuels Mattie’s clown! Following a flood at the museum, he has its archives, costumes,
clown shoes and about 320 eggs painted with different clown faces, in the basement of his home and is now trying to secure a new home to showcase the collection and set up a gallery for its 100’s of pictures.

Isabella Mars
Isabella Mars è una designer di calzature su misura. Ha fondato il suo marchio nel 2011 e crea scarpe ispirate principalmente al glam rock e al circo. Essendo lei stessa un’acrobata, realizza anche calzature protettive per artisti circensi e per coloro che si allenano nelle arti aeree per divertimento, combinando le due cose che la appassionano di più. Isabella ha di recente realizzato scarpe per Philippe Petit, funambolo famoso per la sua traversata delle torri del World Trade Center a New York City.

Isabella Mars
Isabella Mars is a bespoke shoemaker & designer. Having established the brand in 2011 she is creating bespoke shoes that are mostly inspired by glam rock and the circus. Being an Aerialist herself she is also making protective footwear for circus artists and those training in Aerial arts for fun, combining the two things she is most passionate about.
Isabella has recently made shoes for Philippe Petit, famous for his high-wire walks between the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.

Drew Colby
Drew Colby ha lavorato come burattinaio in Sud Africa e nel Regno Unito per oltre 30 anni.
Ha iniziato a famigliarizzare con i burattini e le marionette all’età di 12 anni, mentre era a scuola in Namibia. La sua esperienza include spettacoli di marionette tradizionali,
marionette con corde lunghe, marionette in stile bunraku e spettacoli con stili misti di recitazione, maschere e danza. La sua evoluzione artistica lo ha portato a concentrare il suo lavoro sul teatro delle “ombre cinesi”, che è un teatro creato semplicemente dall’assenza di luce, dall’abilità del burattinaio e dall’immaginazione del pubblico.

Drew Colby
Drew Colby has worked with puppets in Southern Africa and the UK for over 30 years. He began with glove puppets and marionettes at the age of 12, whilst at school in Namibia.
His experience includes traditional double-bridge, long-string marionette shows, open stage bunraku-style puppetry, and performances with mixed styles of puppetry, acting,
mask work and dance. His performance practice led him to concentrate his work on hand shadow puppetry, which is theatre created simply out of absences of light, the puppeteer’s ability and the audience’s imagination. It is the ultimate instant puppetry.

Rio Cinema
Il Rio è un popolare cinema Art Déco a Dalston, con una storia che risale ad oltre cento anni fa. L’edificio era originariamente un negozio di un banditore d’asta, convertito nel Kingsland Palace nel 1909 dalla proprietaria Clara Ludski, diventando uno dei cinque cinema di Dalston. Da allora opera ininterrottamente, rendendolo uno dei cinema più antichi del paese. Andrew, il responsabile dello sviluppo, e gli altri componenti del suo team, lavorano instancabilmente per conservarne la memoria e mantenerlo come punto di riferimento per il cinema indipendente nell’East London.

Rio Cinema
The Rio Cinema is a popular independent Art Deco cinema in Dalston, with a history stretching back over 100 years. The building was originally an auctioneer’s shop, converted into the Kingsland Palace in 1909 by owner Clara Ludski, becoming one of five cinemas in Dalston and an immediate hit. Since then, it operates continuously, making Rio one of the oldest cinemas in the country. Andrew, the Rio’s development manager, works with other incredible people, making Rio one of the reference point for cinema in East London.

E5 Process
L’E5 Process è uno studio di sviluppo fotografico aperto al pubblico, gestito da Ben Bradish-Ellames, dove i fotografi possono recarsi a stampare in bianco e nero e a colori. È uno dei pochi spazi a Londra a vantare anche una camera oscura per tecniche antiche e “alternative”. Le luci rosse che accolgono i visitatori aprono un flusso di ricordi a tutti i fotografi che in passato hanno sviluppato le proprie immagini in camera oscura.

E5 Process
E5 Process is an open studio, run by Ben Bradish-Ellames, where members of the public can come to print Black and White, and Colour prints. It is also one of the few spaces in London to boast an Alternative Processes darkroom too. Its red lights open a stream of memories to all photographers who have, in the past, developed their pictures in a darkroom.

Hattie Newman
Hattie Newman costruisce e dirige animazioni e immagini per pubblicità, riviste, gallerie, siti web, libri e molte altre applicazioni. Lo studio di Hattie è un luogo in cui schizzi e idee prendono vita in una moltitudine di forme e colori, tutti creati a partire da semplici fogli di carta, piegati e ripiegati seguendo le tecniche dell’origami e la sua ispirazione. Tutto è progettato, costruito e fotografato nel suo studio nell’East London ma i suoi lavori sono famosi in tutto il mondo.

Hattie Newman
Hattie Newman builds and directs animations and images that live in advertisements, magazines, galleries, websites, books and many other places around the world. Hattie’s studio is a place where sketches and ideas quickly outgrow their pages and leap to life.
She has a passion for papercraft, and projects regularly call Hattie away to work in New York, Paris, Milan and other cities far from her original home of Devon, England.
Everything is designed, built and photographed in her East London studio.
